The Hump Day Dump

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Wednesday, lets do this.

I finally pulled the trigger on some new Benny Gold’s. I grabbed the Gold Standard selvage denims. I actually got these bad boys last Friday and have been living in them ever since. They are good pants, made in the USA, 13.5 oz denim, comfy, all that. Plus  look at that color.

Coming from 5 years of wearing Nudies and APCs almost exclusively, these things are definitely a change, The legs have way more room and the rise is mega. at first I was a bit unsure of them, but they’ve quickly grown on me. Besides, not all of my pants need to that slim. my favorite feature of these pants is the pen pocket off the coin pocket. It’s a simple thing, but as someone who carries a pen 90 percent of the time, it’s great. I’m not a denim expert but I’m guessing these pants are coming from the same denim used in Agave jeans. They seem a touch too soft out of the box to be from the Cone factory. Again that is pure speculation. I used some social media mastery and asked Mr. Weiner himself where they were from but he just said they were made in the USA. Benny Gold is TRADE SECRETIVE.

At the online shop he recommends sizing down one size, which I have to echo to anyone. If you want them to be slimmer, go down two sizes. And speaking of the online shop, he’s got them for 50 percent off right now. So go buy two pairs. If your local shop isn’t carrying these, be sure to grab them directly from the source. It puts more money in the pockets of the people who design and make the goods, not some online streetwear-exploitation warehouse. Support the people that support your interests.

One to the Next One

I first saw this video a couple months ago, then my buddy John from Seven Years Winter sent it out again the other day.

VCA 2010 RACE RUN from changoman on Vimeo.

Be sure to take note of his uniform at 3:29.

I like his style.

And Then There Was This

My main sticker mama and all around rad lady Nat Vosko had her pottery show opening the other day. I gotta say, her pieces look good.

Congrats to Nat, and thanks to L-boogie for getting pics of it all.

While We’re Here

Dane101 and Phil Ejercito dropped this bomb from April 4th in Madison.

I’ve got so much new found respect for Jessie Jackson. The guy has spent more time in Madison over the past 2 months than most residents. Words cannot even explain it. But if this picture doesn’t have you thinking, then you need to re-examine your American dream.

And Lest We Not Forget

The High Balls are on Me!

I’ve been out for a few days, sitting shiva for the loss of Peligro. As a dog he only gets four days, but none the less he deserves the honor.

In case you missed it on twitter, I’ll go over some of the highlights in the life of Peligro:

  • He voted for Obama. Twice.
  • He once mated with cheetah. Then forced the cheetah to get an abortion, fearing his offspring would pretty much be the pinnacle of life on earth.
  • He was the first dog to sail around the world, solo.
  • Kanye had him on speed dial.
  • He smoked Old Golds.
  • He never believed that shit about Han shooting first.
  • Once spent a weekend in the Chelsea Hotel with Laika, 17 hookers and a Humboldt squid.
  • He was the inspiration for every episode of  the X files, and turned down a writing credit on  A River Runs Through It.
  • He never forgave Terje for the “timid pup” deck
  • He was trained with a rape whistle.

I can’t say it enough,  I miss you buddy.

NAXT

So we’re gonna start today off with this gem from EndZedder A. Love:

Park Rubbing from torstein horgmo on Vimeo.

You hearing that re-re-remix? Slickter, for shore.
That Wiig kid isn’t bad.

I’ve been seeing some art:

This where justice was born:

And this is where justice was fed as a small child

Sorry about the glare.

This is what Noah’s ark looked like:

A gorilla, a wolf, a tiger, a vulture coming out of a man’s cock region. Ancient flood histories for one thousand.

Blasted.

As of late I’ve been huckstering some product, trying to convince people that mustaches are a good thing and should be celebrated. On the inside, I regard a mustache as the sign of someone not to be trusted. A rogue. A scoundrel. A  ne’er-do-well. A knave. A shitbag. This is very similar to the feelings I get when women tell me they have to be up early on Sunday morning to morning. I kinda want to ask, “You’re kidding, right?” Man, if I knew it was going to be that kind of party, I would have never even let you in.

I’ll keep you posted on this.

Look at that car, MFer, and tell me my city doesn’t get gritty. Sheeeeeeitttttttt! Even the Silver Spurt is looking more like a Hazy Shade of Winter. And if the Spurt is Simon and Garfunkel, this rig must be Procol Harem.

I haven’t been out on the shrad but for one day this year. However, I’ve been at the bike park twice in the past week. You figure it out.

Bike

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Suburbanite extraordinaire, @goosefeather, and I were riding bikes a  for minute this weekend. Because we were checking out this circuit of trails near his house. The trail is kind of short and  could certainly use something to get your bike off the ground for a couple of seconds, but it was fast and incredibly tight in places.

Apparently some dude already built a KML or KLM or lufthansa or whatever page for it and you can see it here: Harley Woods Trail.

Later we were cleaning off the rigs and talking about how lame the suburbs are, he told me he was expected to weed the flowerbed in from of his house. I told him to hire some Canadiens to do that work.

Apart from that, I went to Ghicago and my growing-up friend LB made sure we all have fancy drinks.  It was great. She ever made sure we didn’t have to wait in line. She’s tip top. She also makes art that makes me think of Katamari Demachi.

Heeeeeey, Holidays. When did you get here?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Alright fools. Back at the estate, the turkey is gone, and that god-awful parade went through New York so we seem to officially be in the Holiday Season. Channukah fires up in 12 days. Eight days of anxiety, wondering if this is enough oil for the lamp, Jesus gets tossed up on the crucifix 13 days later. No wonder the holidays keep us on edge. History is telling us it’s touch-and-go.

Meanwhile there is still no snow in Wisconsin. Well Tyrol Basin blew a bunch and tossed out the rail garden. So all the youngstahs can be stoked on that. They even made a little edit and got it put up on Yobeat. Then in classic Wisco form, a bunch of kids lamed up the comments calling each other “fagets.” Keep it classy Wisconsin.

And if you weren’t getting your shred on maybe you found yourself at Brew City’s very own Art vs Craft. Let me recap it for you, you take 4 people are making things that people find interesting and doing it well. They you add 45 other shitbag hipsters making potato press cards of sparrows and cupcakes, add a sewing machine , Cat Eye glasses, some rap lyrics for “irony” (we have already discussed this), a serious lack of Laura George, and BLANGLE!! that’s what you missed out on.

None the less the Milwaukee Radification Project missed it’s chance to pretty much wipe out Riverwest, while 68% of the neighborhood’s population was ogling the genius of making a throw pillow out of an old Reebok teeshirt. (Fact: not genius, and the Pump sucked).

Finally I find this from gem in Lorenius‘ (crafty, but way classier than those filthrolling hipsters) twitter trough.
